Delaware's Whyte, Stockwell Sweep Weekly CAA Swimming & Diving Awards

RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second time this season, the University of Delaware women's swimming and diving squad has swept the weekly Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards.
On Tuesday, the CAA announced that freestyle sprint specialist Morgan Whyte was selected as the CAA Female Swimmer of the Week while diver Caitlin Stockwell was named the CAA Female Diver of the Week. The duo helped lead the Blue Hens to a sweep over Drexel and Northeastern in a CAA Pod Meet Saturday at UD's Rawstrom Natatorium. The Delaware women are now 9-1 in dual meet action this season, including a 4-1 mark vs. CAA opponents.
Delaware student-athlete have now been honored by the CAA six times this season with Whyte earning the Swimmer of the Week citation three times. Whyte, the defending CAA 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle champion, has been honored four times during her standout career at Delaware.
Whyte, a senior fashion merchandising major from Chevy Chase, Md. (St. John's College HS), was in on three victories on Saturday. She won the 50 freestyle (23.44) and 100 freestyle (51.98) and swam the final leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:32.86) team. In addition, she also helped the 200 medley relay team place second (1:45.93). Whyte was also named CAA Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 27 and Nov. 2.
Stockwell, a senior marine science major from San Jose, Calif. (Presentation HS), captured the 1-meter diving event with a score of 279.05 and was second in the 3-meter event behind teammate Kristina Congdon with a score of 278.20.
Both the Delaware men and women will continue action this Sunday, Jan. 17, when the Blue Hens continue a three-meet homestand when Delaware hosts Iona and St. Peter's in a non-league tri-meet at Rawstrom Natatorium at 1 p.m.
In addition to the duo from Delaware, also earning weekly awards were CAA Male Swimmer of the Week Joel Berryman of Drexel and CAA Male Diver of the Week David Sanchez from Drexel.
