Savidge, Larson Star for Blue Hens But Delaware Swept by George Mason in Swimming Dual

FAIRFAX, Va. -- University of Delaware junior Patrick Savidge won three events for the Blue Hen men and freshman diver Emma Larson won both of her events on the boards for the UD women but it wasn't enough as host George Mason posted a sweep in a non-league swimming and diving dual Saturday afternoon at Jim McKay Natatorium.
George Mason defeated the Delaware men by a 184-114 score while the Patriot women knocked off the Blue Hens by a 167-127 count. The Delaware men moved their record to 1-1 while the UD women fell to 1-2 on the young season.
Both Delaware teams will continue action Nov. 5-6 in a Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet at James Madison with William & Mary and UNCW also competing in the four-way meet in Harrisonburg, Va.
Savidge ran his win total to five on the season on Saturday as he swept the breaststroke events for the second straight week, winning the 100 in a time of 58.44 and hitting the wall first in the 200 in a clocking of 2:06.67. He also won the 200 individual medley on Saturday with a time of 1:53.96. He won the breaststroke events in Delaware's win over Georgetown last Saturday.
Also taking home first place for the Delaware men on Saturday were Alex Hillsley in the 200 freestyle (1:42.76) and Asher Kiely in the 100 backstroke (51.93). Hillsley, who won four events vs. Georgetown last week, also placed second in the 200 IM and the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.60) on Saturday. Delaware's Andrew Woerth also had second place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle (21.85) and 100 freestyle (47.74).
On the women's side, Larson dominated the diving events as she captured the one-meter title with 179.40 points and won the three-meter board competition with 178.88 points.
Also hitting the wall first for the UD women were Mina Feyrer in the 200 butterfly (2:07.23), Samantha Marino in the 200 backstroke (2:06.31), and Annie Nunes in the 200 IM (2:09.70). Feyrer was also second in the 200 medley relay (1:47.00) and 100 butterfly (57.22).
