Delaware Heads South This Weekend For Three Games at ODU Tournament

NORFOLK, Va. -- Coming off a series win at Stetson during the opening weekend of the season, the University of Delaware baseball team will play three games this weekend at the ODU Tournament.
The Blue Hens will take on Virginia Tech on Friday at 12 noon at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex, before facing Manhattan on Saturday at 12 noon and the host Monarchs on Sunday at 3 p.m. Live stats and live video (fee) will be available for all three games.
Delaware opened its season last weekend with a pair of wins over Stetson, including a thrilling 12-10 victory in 10 innings during the rubber match on Sunday. Jordan Glover led the offensive attack with team-highs of seven hits, two doubles and five RBI while hitting .538 during the series, while Austin Niggebrugge added four hits on Sunday and Nick Tierno scored a team-leading four runs.
Ron Marinaccio allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work to pick up a win in Friday's season opener, while Colman Vila earned a win and a save with 5.2 frames of scoreless relief on the weekend.
Virginia Tech, which was picked sixth in the Coastal Division of the ACC Preseason Poll, is 2-2 on the young season, dropping two games at The Citadel before an 11-0 win over East Tennessee State on Tuesday. Phil Sciretta has gone 8 for 18 for a .444 average thus far, while Saige Jenco has scored a team-high six runs and Sam Fragale has knocked home six.
Manhattan will be opening its 2016 campaign this weekend, as the Jaspers return six position player starters and four starting pitchers from last year's squad that finished 18-34. Manhattan was picked sixth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, while first baseman Christian Santisteban was selected the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year.
Former CAA member Old Dominion is 4-0 on the year with victories over No. 10 North Carolina State, Kent State, Appalachian State and Norfolk State. The Monarchs, who were picked fifth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll, have allowed just six runs through their first four games of the season.
Junior righthander Sam Sinnen was named the league's Pitcher of the Week after firing five scoreless innings against the Wolfpack, while Nick Walker is hitting .462 at the plate with four RBI.
