Delaware Swimming Teams Each Finish Fourth at CAA Championships

RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming teams closed out competition at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Saturday night at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center with both Blue Hen teams earning fourth place finishes.
In Saturday's final day of action, Blue Hen swimmers recorded 16 top 10 finishes, highlighted by senior Morgan Whyte placing second in the women's 100 freestyle with an NCAA B qualifying time of 49.85. It was her second NCAA B qualifying time of the meet.
William & Mary captured both the men's and women's team titles with the Tribe men winning the championship for the second straight year.
The Delaware men, who placed third last year, dropped one spot as they finished fourth with 502 points. William & Mary was followed by Drexel, Towson, Delaware, and UNCW. On the women's side, William & Mary won its first league title since 2007 as the Tribe earned 731.5 points followed by James Madison, Towson, Delaware, Northeastern, UNCW, and Drexel. The UD women placed fourth for the second straight year.
Delaware's top performers for the meet were senior Dominique Montoya on the women's side and junior Cory Camp on the men's side. Montoya earned 47 points during the four-day meet to place seventh overall. Camp was also seventh overall in the men's individual standings with 49 points.
The Delaware men had two second place finishes on Saturday as Alex Tooley was the runner-up in the 1,650 freestyle (15:38.26) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Alex Hillsley, Tomas Elder, Andrew Woerth, and Nicholas Badsky was second in 2:59.71. Also for Delaware, Camp was third in the 1,650 freestyle (15:39.54); Badsky was third in the 100 freestyle (44.81), and Elder was second in the 100 freestyle (45.31).
For the Delaware women, Whyte was runner-up in the 100 freestyle (49.85), the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Montoya, Alyssa Sanders, Sarah Braatz, and Whyte was second (3:22.31), Sanders was fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.44), Montoya was fifth in the 100 freestyle (50.56), and Madeline Maher was fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.53).
