Delaware continues its lengthy homestand this afternoon as the Blue Hens welcome longtime non-league foe La Salle University to Bob Hannah Stadium. The Blue Hens (15-5), who are playing their 13th home game in the last 18 days, are coming off a three-game weekend sweep over Fairfield as they outscored the Stags 37-15, including a doubleheader sweep by scores of 4-3 and 11-6 on Saturday. The Hens have won 10 of their last 11 games overall and are 11-2 at home this season. La Salle (6-13), a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, has won four of its last five games, rallying from a tough 1-11 start. The Explorers earned a doubleheader split with St. Peter's Saturday, winning the nightcap 1-0 on a two-hitter by Jordan Meyer.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Delaware posted two more comeback wins Saturday afternoon as the Blue Hens used some timely hitting and pitching to finish off a weekend sweep over Fairfield by taking both ends of a baseball doubleheader under rainy and raw conditions at Bob Hannah Stadium. Delaware (15-5), winners in 10 of its last 11 games, won the first game 4-3 as the Hens scored three runs in the third and then scored the game-winner in the sixth on a fielder's choice groundout. In the nightcap, the Hens overcame a 6-0 deficit by erupting for six runs in the sixth, two in the seventh, and three more in the eighth to post an 11-6 triumph. Combined with the 22-6 win over Fairfield (4-11) on Friday, the Hens swept a series for the second straight weekend.
