Delaware will be looking to begin another win streak as the Hens head north to Philadelphia to take on La Salle in a consolation game of the Liberty Bell Classic. Delaware moved to the loser's bracket following a 12-7 loss at Lehigh last week in the opening round of the LBC while the Explorers fell into the bracket thanks to a 5-2 setback to Rider last Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
In a game that featured a combined 26 runs and 33 hits, the University of Delaware came out on the short end on a blustery day at Bob Hannah Stadium Saturday as the Blue Hens dropped a 14-12 decision to James Madison in the final game of their Colonial Athletic Association weekend series. Delaware (17-11, 1-5 CAA) fought back from a 12-4 deficit by scoring eight runs in the final three innings but it was not enough as the Blue Hens lost the weekend series 2-1. James Madison (13-15, 4-2 CAA) took control early thanks to a five run second inning, three more in the fifth, and two each in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. The Dukes banged out 17 hits on the day, including five extra base hits, and took advantage of four UD errors. Delaware also banged out 16 hits on a sunny day that featured constant gusty winds as both teams left 14 runners on base. Nine different Blue Hen players banged out hits as Nick Tierno went 3 for 4 and scored three runs, Nick Patten went 2 for 4 with three runs, three RBI, and his team-high sixth home run, and Diaz Nardo knocked in two runs and hit a homer for the second straight day.
