Delaware Swimmers & Divers Earn Spots on All-CAA Postseason Teams

RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Delaware was well-represented on the All-Colonial Athletic Association Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving All-Star teams announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to Brian Coonce being named the CAA Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year, 16 UD student-athletes earned All-CAA honors for their top three performances at the CAA Championships back in February and two others were named to the CAA All-Academic Team.
Coonce was outstanding in his first season as the Blue Hens' men's and women's diving coach and was instrumental in guiding UD divers to eight top four finishes at the CAA Championships Feb. 20-21 at Delaware.
Blue Hen junior Luke Winkler won the men's three-meter title and senior Kristina Congdon captured the women's three-meter crown to highlight the event.
The Delaware men had eight All-CAA performers (top three in their event at the CAA Championships) led by junior Cory Camp (top left) in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle, and 800 freestyle relay; sophomore Nicholas Badsky in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay; senior Alex Tooley in the 1,650 freestyle, 400 individual medley, and 800 freestyle relay; junior Alexander Hillsley in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 800 freestyle relay; junior Tómas Elder in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay; freshman Andrew Woerth in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay; sophomore Patrick Savidge in the 800 freestyle relay; and Winkler in the one-meter and three-meter diving.
Savidge was also recognized as Delaware's selection to the men's CAA All-Academic Team. A sophomore civil engineering major from South Windsor, Conn. (South Windsor HS), Savidge carries a 3.78 grade point average.
On the women's side, Delaware also had eight student-athletes honored with All-CAA laurels led by senior Morgan Whyte (at right) in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400
reestyle relay; senior Dominique Montoya in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay; senior Madeline Maher in the 400 individual medley; senior Alyssa Sanders in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay; junior Jordan Sawyer in the 200 freestyle relay; sophomore Sarah Braatz in the 400 freestyle relay; Congdon in the one-meter and three-meter diving; and senior Caitlin Stockwell in the one-meter and three-meter diving.
Sophomore Natalie Ambrosey was recognized as Delaware's selection to the women's CAA All-Academic Team. A communications major from Milford, Conn. (Lauralton Hall & Amity HS), Ambrosey carries a 3.95 grade point average.
Drexel senior Joel Berryman was picked as the 2016 CAA Men's Swimmer of the Year and Drexel senior David Sanchez was honored for the third time in his career as the CAA Men's Diver of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches.Towson freshman Jack Saunderson was named Rookie Swimmer of the Year and Drexel freshman Michael Binkauskas was tabbed Rookie Diver of the Year. For the third straight season, William & Mary's Matt Crispino was voted CAA Men's Swimming Coach of the Year while Coonce earned the men's diving Coach of the Year award for the first time.
On the women's side, Drexel junior Rachel Bernhardt was selected as the CAA Women's Swimmer of the Year and James Madison junior Olivia Lehman was picked as the CAA Women's Diver of the Year. William & Mary freshman Morgan Smith was chosen as the CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year and Towson freshman Emily Wilson was picked as the Rookie Diver of the Year. Crispino was honored as the Women's Swimming Coach of the Year for the first time in his career and Coonce was named Women's Diving Coach of the Year.
