The shots just weren't falling in favor of the Blue Hens Tuesday evening at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium as No. 19 Virginia Tech shutout Delaware, 2-0. Despite outshooting the Hokies, 15-10, the Hens (6-2) were unable to find the back of the net for the first time since last season's CAA Championship final in which Delaware fell to Hofstra, 2-0. Collin Verfurth gave Virginia Tech (7-1) the 1-0 lead in the 49th minute before Ryan Marcano put it out of reach at 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining on the game clock. Dani Laguna led all players with five shots, including one on goal, while Jaime Martinez and Carlos Perales posted three apiece. Goalie Todd Morton (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) tied a season-high with five saves.
HEN SCRATCHINGS 🐔
· The Blue Hens are receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Division I rankings and are No. 4 in the NSCAA Midwest Regional poll. The next poll will be released on Tuesday, September 27.
· Guillermo Delgado was named the CAA Player of the Week Monday after tallying six points (2g, 2a) in wins over Seton Hall and William & Mary.
· The Blue Hens were without the services Tuesday of All-American and Delaware career points leader Guillermo Delgado, who left last Saturday's game prematurely due to a lower leg injury. He is not expected to miss an extended period of time.
· Guillermo Delgado (43) currently sits just behind Mike Biggs' career record of 47 goals set from 1968-70. He is also tied for fifth in the program record books with 15 career assists.
· Jaime Martinez is tied for 10th all-time with 12 career assists.
· Saturday's game is the sixth of six straight at home for Delaware.
· The Blue Hens have outshot opponents, 130-65, so far this year.
· Guillermo Delgado, Thomas de Villardi and Thibault Philippe garnered Preseason All-CAA accolades.
· Guillermo Delgado, a three-time All-American, was one of 28 men nationally named MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.

SERIES INFORMATION 💪
· Delaware is 7-16-2 all-time against the Northeastern.
· Last season, the Blue Hens collected the 3-2 victory over the Huskies in Boston.
In 2014, the two teams split the series, with NU picking up the regular season 3-2 OT victory in Newark while the Blue Hens defeated the Huskies, 1-0, in OT in the CAA Semifinals at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
· Chris Gbandi (Connecticut '02) is in his first season at the helm of the Huskies. The 2000 Hermann Trophy winner and three-time All-American, Gbandi was previously the associate head coach at Dartmouth.

The Huskies are 2-5 (1-0 CAA) on the year with wins coming at Saint Joseph's (2ot) and over CAA foe Drexel. NU most recently dropped a 3-0 decision at New Hampshire. On the year, the Huskies have been outscored, 13-5. Christian McKenna and Khori Bennett each lead Northeastern with three points on a goal and assist. In total, eight Huskies have tallied at least one point on the season. Jonathan Thuresson and Matt Dabrowski have split time between the pipes for NU.
