PRINCETON, N.J. – Less than 24 hours after opening their spring slate, the Blue Hens returned to the courts for a 5-2 loss at Princeton.
In just the second-ever meeting between the two programs, Delaware picked up two singles victories against a Tigers team that is perennially one of the toughest in the nation.
Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) collected the 6-1, 6-4 top-flight singles win over Katrine Steffensen. The victory snapped a two-match losing streak for the freshman, who notched her 12th win of the season.
For the second straight day, sophomore Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) fought from behind and came out with the 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 decision in the second flight.
“Princeton is always a strong and deep squad. After dropping the doubles point, we rebounded incredibly well in singles. I'm excited for practice this week as we prepare for George Mason.”
