INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. -- For the first time in four seasons, the University of Delaware swimming and diving programs headed south following the conclusion of the semester.
Before the team departs campus to spend the holidays with friends and family, the Blue Hens embarked on a six-day training trip from December 16-22 to northern Florida. For the first three days of the trip, Delaware practiced from for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
“Our training trip has been amazing. It has been four years since we last made a Christmas Break trip south and the team could not be more excited. We have had great weather, outstanding practices, some beach time, great food and most importantly team bonding.”
On Wednesday, the Blue Hens held a modified swim meet against Emery and Henry College. The meet was highlighted by the Blue Hens winning 12 of the 13 events that were held. Delaware's men defeated the Wasps 45-6, while the UD women earned the 41-11 exhibition victory. Free-time activities included team-bonding dinners, miniature golfing and beach football. Delaware returns to action on Saturday, January 6 for a 1 p.m. meet against Drexel.
