RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second time this season Delaware ace Brandon Walter has earned a Colonial Athletic Association Honor.
Walter (Hodgson Vo-Tech/New Castle, Del.) was named CAA Pitcher of the Week again this week for his performance this past weekend against Northeastern.
Walter allowed just one-run in eight-plus innings of work. The lefty pitched into the ninth inning for the first time in his career, and struck out 11 batters. The performance helped Delaware defeat Northeastern 2-1, and pushed the lefty's CAA leading strikeout total to 60.
Walter shared Pitcher of the Week with Alex Royalty of UNCW. Other winners included Richard Miller (Player of the Week, Towson) Kyle Brnovich (Co-Rookie of the Week, Elon) and Brandon Raquet (Co-Rookie of the Week, William & Mary).
The Blue Hens return to the diamond Wednesday afternoon when they welcome Penn for a 3 p.m. game. The Hens continue the five-game home stand with a three-game series against Hofstra this Friday (3 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).
