PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – There has been no lack of excitement for the Delaware women's tennis team as of late as the Blue Hens posted yet another 4-3 victory by defeating Drexel at the Vidas Courts Sunday afternoon.
The Hens were down 3-2 with sophomore Sarah Hall (West Orange, N.J./Mount Saint Dominic Academy) entering her third set in No. 5 singles. Clary Rodriguez Cruz went up, 4-1, in the third before Hall fought her way to tie things at 4-4. The two exchanged points until Hall won the 7-6 tiebreaker to tie the team score at 3-3.
Junior co-captain Amanda Studnicki (Normal, Ill./Normal West) then clinched the win for Delaware with the 6-0, 6-4 decision against Fiorella Coria in the sixth flight.
The Blue Hens (11-6, 4-2 CAA) also received a singles victory from sophomore Sara Komer (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), who defeated Ghita Benhadi, 6-1, 6-3, in the second spot.
Delaware opened the match by capturing the team doubles point for the third straight match with wins in the first and third flights.
“This was another topsy-turvy, come-from-behind win. Sarah Hall had such a valiant comeback – possibly the most epic that I've ever been apart of. I'm proud of this group for their continual fight.”
