Program-Record Five Blue Hens Named ITA Scholar Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently honored the University of Delaware men's tennis team for its successes in the classroom as the Blue Hens had a program-record five student-athletes recognized as Scholar Athletes while the squad earned All-Academic Team honors.
Sophomore Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) highlighted the list for the second straight season and was joined by senior Tyler Flematti (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) and freshmen Laurenz Lankes (Cologne, Germany), Luis Marcano (Kralendijk, Bonaire/Sagemont (Fla.)) and Sam Oberholtzer (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial).
The Hens had never previously had more than three student-athletes acknowledged academically by the ITA while the program has only twice before been named an All-Academic Team (2010, 2011).
Pablo MontanaThe ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 and have completed at least two semesters and their present school.
