Sophomore Curran Verma Captures Joe Hunt Invitational Title

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In his first season in a Delaware uniform, sophomore Curran Verma (Gaithersburg, Md./Laurel Springs) collected the Navy Joe Hunt Invitational Flight E crown as play wrapped Sunday in the 11-team fall tournament.
Verma defeated players from Navy, Georgetown and Mary Washington before cruising to the 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hoya Will Sharton in Sunday's final. A transfer from Samford, Verma leads the Blue Hens with a 7-1 record so far this season.
In doubles action, Verma paired with freshman Justice Jones (Laurel, Md./JTCC School) posted a 6-4 win against Navy's Josh Martin and Walker Sims to claim fifth place in Flight C.
