Delaware Defeats Johns Hopkins In Double Dual, 161-126

UD fell to UMBC, 167-130
BALTIMORE – The Delaware women's swimming and diving team opened the season in a double dual meet against UMBC and Johns Hopkins this afternoon and took down JHU, 161-126. UD lost to UMBC, 167-130.

"This meet was a fantastic way to start our season," head coach Pablo Marmolejo said. "After six weeks of heavy training our Blue Hens swam very well and show a lot of character through it all. They are in a very good place as we head into our fall meet schedule and I foresse them just getting better. The environment was electric and our team showed a lot of team spirit on every event. We are looking forward to our George Mason meet and the POD meet."

In relays, the women picked up a win in the 400 yard freestyle as senior Amy Nemeth, junior Ellie Jogani, senior Melissa Manuelli and senior Athena Cimino went 3:37.18.

Senior Mina Feyrer won the 200-yard freestyle race with a 2:04.09. Feyrer won the 100-yard freestyle as well with a 56.75.

In the 100-free, freshman Taylor Draganosky took a .03 second win with a time of 1:07.36. Dragnosky also took home the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.46.

In diving, sophomore Holly Smith won the 3-meter event with a score of 211.58. Freshman Jessica Antonio finished second with a. score of 210.82.

The 200-yard medley relay – comprised of Nemeth, Gillman, Feyrer and Cimino – finished second with a. time of 1:47.73.

Nemeth finished second in the 200-yard backstroke after posting a time of 2:08.24.
