SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Blue Hens grabbed momentum a few times throughout the game, but a slow first quarter eventually hindered Delaware in its 69-60 loss to Montana State in the Preseason WNIT at Texas State's Strahan Arena.
Junior Samone DeFreese led the Hens (0-2) with 20 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals and two assists before fouling out with 28 minutes of play.
Freshman Jasmine Dickey added her second straight game with 10-plus rebounds and finished the night with 11 rebounds and eight points and also fouled out with 30 minutes logged.
The Bobcats (2-1) jumped out to the 24-10 first quarter lead but UD was able to straddle halftime with a 21-0 run to come within two at 35-33 with just over seven minutes remaining in the third quarter.
That was as close as the Blue Hens would get however as MSU collected nine points off of free throws in the final five minutes of the contest.
Delaware will now face the non-winner of tonight's Texas State vs. Nicholls state matchup tomorrow at Strahan Arena.
