Blue Hens Hold on for 71-56 Victory Over Nicholls

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Defense turned into offense in the second half for the Blue Hens Saturday evening as Delaware captured its first win of the season by defeating Nicholls, 71-56 in the Preseason WNIT at Texas State's Strahan Arena.
Tied at halftime, the Hens (1-2) outscored the Colonels, 40-25, in the second half en route to victory. In total, Delaware out-rebounded Nicholls, 50-26, and forced 22 total Colonel turnovers.
Junior Abby Gonzales registered a career-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including four 3-pointers, to go along with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 35 minutes of play.
Freshman Jasmine Dickey logged her second double double of the season and finished the game with 15 points and a season-best 16 rebounds.
Junior Samone DeFreese added 12 points and six rebounds while sophomore Justina Mascaro collected 10 points and four rebounds.
