DOVER, Del. – The Blue Hens received double-figure scoring efforts from four different players, including career nights from Abby Gonzales and Gadson Lefft, Tuesday evening as Delaware picked up the 85-77 victory at Delaware State's Memorial Hall.
Gonzales, who registered 20 points in Saturday's win over Nicholls, upped her career-high with 21 points versus the Hornets. The junior guard posted a career-best five 3-pointers to go along with eight assists.
The biggest spark of the night may have been provided by Lefft however as the redshirt senior scored her first career points in a Blue Hens uniform and finished the night with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and a mark of 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Lefft added a career-high six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 16 minutes of action.
A back-and-forth affair throughout the first half, Delaware State (1-3) took the lead into the halftime break.
Nine straight points from Lefft in the third turned the tides as Delaware (2-2) took the lead and never looked back in the win.
Junior Bailey Kargo collected a season-best 15 points while graduate student Makeda Nicholas logged 12 points, three steals and two blocked shots.
