NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware swimming and diving program added Alexis Walley as an assistant coach, head coach Pablo Marmolejo announced on Friday.
"I am very happy to welcome Alexis to our University and program," Marmolejo said. "She will add value to every aspect of our program with her experience and passion for the sport. She will help us build a great Blue Hen experience for our student-athletes and all of our future Hens."
Walley spent last season as a men's and women's assistant swimming coach at West Chester University, and was the volunteer assistant coach at WCU from 2015-2017.
"Everyone I have encountered so far already made me feel at home," Walley said. "Pablo, Michael and John seem to be taking the Blue Hens in the right direction and I'm looking forward to being a part of that."
While at West Chester, Walley was the distance coach for both the men's and women's programs. She helped the men's team win their 20th-straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference while the women took home their 12-striaght PSAC title.
She coached two NCAA Division II champions in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle and helped one male swimmer win a PSAC title in the 500, 1000 and 1650 free and the 400 IM.
Her teams at West Chester both won CSCAA Team Scholar All-American awards after the women posted a 3.58 GPA and the men had a 3.11 GPA.
Walley earned both her bachelor of science in nutrition & dietetics and master of science in community nutrition from West Chester while swimming for the Golden Rams. She was a member of four PSAC champions and her team placed fourth at NCAAs as a junior.
Walley will join the team on November 7.
