Delaware Tops Saint Joseph’s, 48-39, in Non-Conference Finale

NEWARK, Del. – The Blue Hens ended 2018 in the win column Friday evening as Delaware picked up the 48-39 victory over Saint Joseph's in its non-conference finale at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The win is just the second-ever for the Hens over the Hawks and also the first-ever for Delaware against SJU in Newark.
Freshman Jasmine Dickey led UD with 10 points and narrowly missed her fourth double double of the season after finishing with nine rebounds.
Graduate student Makeda Nicholas added eight points and 10 rebounds while junior Abby Gonzales notched eight points, six rebounds and four assists as Delaware moves to 5-7 on the year.
The Blue Hens collected the first six points of the game and while Saint Joseph's (4-8) was able to tie things at 15-15 in the second quarter, Delaware was able to pull away and never looked back in the win.
