DANBURY, Conn. - The student athletes of the University of Delaware have been exceling in the classroom, just as much as they have been on the field.
During the past 2017 fall semester, a total of 69 Blue Hen students that compete during the fall season achieved the ECAC Academic Honor Roll, with 22 reaching the status of President's Honor Roll.
“We are extremely fortunate to have so many talented young men and women representing the University of Delaware both on the playing fields and in the classroom,” Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Chrissi Rawak said. “As ambassadors for this great University, we are so proud of our student-athletes for their continued dedication and commitment in the classroom and in the community and really take on leadership roles.”
The ECAC Academic Honor Roll is split into two tiers. The Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who achieved a cumulative 3.2-3.59 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and have completed one full academic year at their current institution. The second tier, the President's Honor Roll, recognizes student-athletes who have a GPA of 3.6 or better and have completed a full academic year at their institution.
"Recognizing our student-athletes is at the core of our mission at the ECAC," said ECAC President and CEO Dan Coonan. "This program is a great way for us to celebrate the academic efforts of ECAC student-athletes, and we look forward to shining a spotlight on their accomplishments in the classroom."
Earlier this week, it was announced that 600-plus Blue Hen student-athletes posted a combined grade point average of 3.102 for the fall semester, the second-highest mark in program history and the eighth-straight semester that a 3.0 mark has been surpassed.
