WIN AND IN:The Blue Hens are going to try to control what they can during Friday night's matchup with Drexel. Delaware is looking to make it back to the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2014, and with a win on Friday, they will be a lock for the tournament finishing the year with a conference record of 3-2.
HEAT IN THE KITCHEN: Delaware's sophomore attackman Charlie Kitchen has been blazing a trail this season, especially in conference play. Kitchen has scored 12 goals in four CAA games so far. The sophomore leads the CAA in goals per game in addition to shots per game and game-winning goals.
MIGHTY MIDDLE: The trio of Will Hirschmann (18 g, 12 a), Dean DiSimone (23 g, 10 a) and Bryce Reid (19 g, 2 a) give Delaware one of the most powerful midfield units in the country with a combined 60 goals and 84 points. The 60 goals by the starting midfield unit rank in the top-10 nationally in that category.
IN FOR A BATTLE: With a spot in the CAA Tournament on the line, tonight will surely be a battle, just like every game this year for the Blue Hens. Entering tonight, Delaware has entered the fourth quarter of every game this year with the margin on the scoreboard being no more than two.
DRAGON-SIZED OFFENSE: Drexel brings its own pair of sophomore goal scorers to Friday night's showdown. Matthew Varian and Reid Bowering sit directly behind Charlie Kitchen in second and third place in goals per game this season. Varian also sits in second in assists per game and leads in points per game. Drexel's Varian and Bowering will be battling all night with Delaware's sophomores Kitchen and Bryce Reid. The Drexel pair have a combined 55 goals while the Delaware pair have a combined 49.
