2017-2018 Middle School Hockey League

This league is for players in 5th through 8th grade ONLY. (Grade you are entering as of September 2017). A game jersey and game socks will be provided as well as one practice jersey. Players will be responsible for all remaining hockey equipment.
The tentative schedule is 13-15 games, plus playoffs and 25-30 practices. Practices will begin middle-late September and games will begin in late October/early November. The majority of practices will occur on Tuesday evenings from 6:40pm-8:00pm in the Gold Ice Arena.
While most games will be played at the UD Ice Arenas, some games will be played in Harrington at the State Fair Grounds and other games played at the Skating Club of Wilmington, The Pond Ice Arena in Newark and IceWorks in Aston, PA.. End of the year playoffs will be held at the University of Delaware.
Team Information
o Players will have to try-out for these teams and not all players will make a team. If a player does not make a team, the University of Delaware will still be operating the full ice in-house league for players age 10-12. If you play on the middle school team and are in the 8th grade you cannot play in the UD In-House league, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students can still play in both leagues.
o You do not have to try-out for this team if you want to continue to play in the full ice in-house league only; these teams are for players looking for additional ice time and games and for those players older than age 12.
o Try-outs will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, 8pm-9pm in the Rust Ice Arena and Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 8pm-9pm in the Rust Ice Arena. You HAVE to attend at least one try-out session, it is encouraged that players attend both sessions. The $30 registration fee covers BOTH try-out sessions. o If you are selected to play on one of the teams, you will then be required to register with USA Hockey and sign a player's agreement /contract with the University of Delaware. USA Hockey registration is NOT part of the player fee.
Cost Per Player
o $840 season fee (fee will be split into two $420 payments), or fee of $800 if paid in full.
Parents will be provided the complete schedule (practice and games) by middle October, once the league schedule is established.
