It's the University of Delaware standard and that was on display again on Wednesday with the NCAA's annual APR report, which saw 12 programs earn perfect scores in 2016-17, the highest total in program history.
“Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work extremely hard on and off the field and having 12 programs earn perfect scores is an outstanding accomplishment that we are all very proud of,” Director of Athletics and Recreation Serves Chrissi Rawak said. “Achieving success academically is of the highest priority and it's evident that the effort being put forth is helping us reach our goals academically.”
The 20 Blue Hen varsity athletic programs averaged a 993 APR score in 2016-17, with the average multi-year rate reaching above 984, the highest in program history.
The national average jumped two points to 983 this year
“We have high expectations on and off the court for our student-athletes, coaches and staff and the progress that we have made in recent years has been tremendous. To achieve some of the highest numbers in program history is a testament to all their hard work,” Director of Student Services Tim Morrissey said.
