Cloud, who graduated from Conrad High in 1960, finished his University of Delaware career with 881 points and 609 rebounds, both of which were good for sixth in program history at the time. He is one of only 10 Blue Hens to have posted a 20-point/20-rebound game and one of two to have done it twice in his career.
During Cloud's three-year career, Delaware went 45-23 with a 20-9 mark in the Middle Atlantic Conference. As a senior, Cloud averaged 12.6 rebounds per game, which is good for ninth in UD single-season history. His 25 rebounds against Johns Hopkins are still good to tie for third in Hens single-game history.
A native of Dover and 2003 graduate from Polytech High, Smith was the first University of Delaware women's basketball player to be drafted by the WNBA when she was picked 18th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2007. A two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year honoree and the first Delaware player to earn All-Region accolades, Smith holds the school record with 342 career steals and is third on the Blue Hens all-time scoring list with 1,635 points and fifth with 307 assists.
Smith led the Hens to 92 wins, 55 Colonial Athletic Association victories and three postseason appearances, including a trip to the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
Previous Blue Hens to be inducted into the Delaware Basketball Hall of Fame include John Gordon, Sarah Gause, Nate Cloud, Steve Jackson, Pat Borowksi, Dave Sysko, Lee Swayze and Jack Baly.
The pair will be honored alongside Marianna Freeman, Mark Harris, DeCoursey Jamison and John Fiorelli on Saturday, January 26 during a 10 a.m. brunch at the Sheraton Wilmington South. Tickets ($35) are available at https://debbhof.ticketleap.com/.
The Delaware Basketball Hall of Fame was founded in 2007 by the Delaware Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association.
