NEWARK, Del. – The offensive woes continue for the Blue Hens, who fell to long-time rival Drexel, 57-40, Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
On the defensive end, graduate student Makeda Nicholas logged a game-high 11 rebounds and is now 18th in program history with 603 career boards. The forward added five points, two blocks, an assist and a steal for the Hens (5-10, 0-3 CAA).
Junior Bailey Kargo led Delaware with 12 points to go along with three rebounds while senior Alison Lewis added nine points for the Hens. Junior Samone DeFreese and freshman Jasmine Dickey each put up five points with eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
Delaware, which averaged 61.0 points per in 11 non-conference games this season, has logged 44.8 points per in its last four games, including three against conference opponents.
POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Natasha Adair
"Again, I'm just disappointed. We had another opportunity at home, which is so important, especially in league play to protect home court. The defensive side of the ball has been ok for us. It's just executing on the offensive end. We are a team that's going to compete, a team that's going to rally and we'll figure it out. It's not going to stop what we do. We're still going to get in the gym, we're still going to execute. We'll still get the looks. As a coach, it'd be one thing if we weren't getting the looks. I feel like we're executing into a lot of the shots that we want. It's just one of those things. It's not fun. It's uncomfortable for them right now. But as a unit, whether we win, whether we lose, we still come back ready to fight. This is a group that will get back to work and get ready for next weekend."
