No. 12 Hens Roll to 7-0 Triumph at Drexel for Van de Kerkhof’s 200th Career Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 12 Blue Hens clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament Sunday afternoon in exciting fashion as Delaware rolled to the 7-0 victory over Drexel at Buckley Field. The win also marked the 200th for head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof in his 13-year career.
Following a two-and-a-half-hour delay due to heavy rain in the Philadelphia area, the Blue Hens wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as freshman Ashlyn Carr registered her first of two goals on the day in the fifth minute.
Junior Sophie Giezeman joined Carr in notching two goals for Delaware while graduate student Milan Spooren and junior Lotte de Koning each tallied two assists.
In total, five different Blue Hens scored goals while eight captured at least one point.
Redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes and sophomore Lizzie Gaebel each collected two saves in the cage to share the shutout while Rhodes was credited with her 11th win of the year.
