NEWARK, Del. – For the 11th straight year, the University of Delaware football program placed at least seven members on Colonial Athletic Association all-conference squads, which were announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Redshirt seniors Mario Farinella (OL), Nick Pritchard (P), Cam Kitchen (DL) and Owen Tyler (FB/HB), along with redshirt freshman Will Knight (RB), all earned Second Team accolades, while redshirt senior Chuka Ezeuzoh (OL) and sophomore Kedrick Whitehead (S) earned spots on the Third Team.
Farinella, Pritchard and Kitchen all made their second straight appearance on all-league squads. While Tyler, Knight, Ezeuzoh and Whitehead all earned their first collegiate all-conference honors.
Knight was outstanding in his debut season at Delaware, rushing for 919 yards on 125 carries, good for 7.4 yards per carry, which ranked fourth in the country. His 919 total rushing yards ranked second in the CAA. He piled up eight total TDs, seven on the ground. He became just the second freshman ever in program history to reach 900+ rushing yards, joining only Andrew Pierce in 2010.
Ezeuzoh and Farinella anchored the offensive line over the past two seasons for the Blue Hens, each playing multiple positions throughout the span. Through that stretch, Delaware had five different players post 100-yard rushing performances, including five such games this year.
Tyler was a versatile weapon for Delaware, playing in the fullback, halfback and tight end spots during his senior campaign. He caught 12 passes for 143 yards and two TDs for the Blue Hens.
Pritchard became just the third Blue Hen in program history with over 7,500 yards punting, ranking second in the league with a 42.7 average per punt, while leading the league in punts of 50 yards (20) and punts inside the 20 (13).
Kitchen posted career-highs in tackles (64), tackles for a loss (6.5) and sacks (3). He also became just the fifth defensive lineman to play in 50 career games at Delaware. He led this year's Blue Hens in both sacks and TFLs, while sitting third in total tackles.
Whitehead led the defensive effort in tackles with 103, ranking first in the league among defensive backs in that category. He became just the 10th sophomore in program history and just the third DB to reach 100+ tackles in a season. He also had five pass breakups and one INT.
