NEWARK, Del. – Delaware dominated the opening half and held off a Stony Brook charge in the second half as the Blue Hens remained unbeaten with a 75-61 victory over the Seawolves Wednesday night at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Delaware, playing its second home game of the season, improved to 7-0 and is off to the second best start in program history.

A layup by Allen put the Blue Hens up 21 late in the half, before the Seawolves scored the final basket of the period as Delaware took a commanding 39-20 advantage into the break.
The Blue Hens held Stony Brook to just 25 percent shooting during the opening 20 minutes while connecting on 47 percent of their shots to build the 19-point margin.
The Seawolves climbed within eight three times in the second half, the final time at 59-51 with 8:04 to play, before Delaware answered with a 9-0 spurt to put the game away.
Martin Ingelsby
"Stony Brook is a team that had the most offensive threats of anybody we've played this year, so I really challenged our guys on the defensive end. Justyn Mutts gives us versatility on that end of the floor, and to hold them to 20 points in the first half and 61 on the night is impressive. They put some game pressure on us, but we were able to get some key stops and made winning plays at the offensive end. Overall I'm really happy with the win tonight, this is a great win for our program."
Justyn Mutts
"We go into every game with a defensive mindset. Offense wins games, but defense wins championships. We were able to lock in on that end of the floor tonight. I'm very energetic and don't have to hold it down on the defensive end."
