NEWARK, Del. – The future is bright for the University of Delaware football program.Â
Â
Coming off back-to-back seven-win seasons, the first FCS playoff appearance since 2010 and a top-25 ranking, the energy around the program is palpable.Â
Â
That energy and momentum doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon with a highly-touted class of 17 newcomers joining the Blue Hens this fall. That class was recognized among the best in the country with HERO Sports FCS ranking it ninth-best in the country.Â
Â
"We're thrilled with this group of student-athletes that have signed with us and will be joining us this fall. It's a high character group of young men who will be great additions to not only our football program, but our university community," head coach Danny Rocco said. "This is a quality group from top to bottom and all of them have a strong history of academics and we can't wait to have them join our program."
Â
In addition to the 17 newcomers, the Blue Hens also added two transfers with Dae'lun Darien (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar (Penn State) and Zachariah Burton (New Castle, Del./William Penn (UVA), who will be with the program through the spring sessions.Â
Â
Spring ball officially starts March 12thwith the annual Spring Game set for April 20th.Â
