ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Delaware came out strong, but in the end, Fordham picked up the 4-2 victory at Navy's Tose Family Tennis Center.
The Blue Hens (8-3) clinched the team doubles point following wins in the third and second flights.
Justice Jones and Guilherme Valdoleiros paired for the first victory of the day by topping Steven Duka and Jofre Segarra, 6-2, in No. 3 doubles.
Laurenz Lankes and Nathan Benyowitz followed by capturing the point with the 6-3 win over Fabian Mauritzson and Lutwin de Macar in the second spot.
In singles action, Blaise Casselbury collected his fourth straight victory by defeating Jeremy Chung, 6-1, 6-2.
POST-MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Pablo Montana
"We came out strong again in doubles. In singles, we started off a little slow and we lost a little momentum, but then we were able to pick it up towards the end. Blaise [Casselbury] won a great match for us keeping us in the battle, but in the end, they played more consistent than we did. We will rest up and learn from this match and hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow against Navy."
