Blue Hen Men’s Basketball Adds Ebby Asamoah, Reggie Gardner to Program

NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball head coach Martin Ingelsby has announced that incoming freshman Ebby Asamoah has signed a National Letter of Intent with the UD program and the Blue Hens have added Reggie Gardner as a transfer.
Asamoah, a 6-4 guard, attended Magruder High School in Rockville, Md. He was a first team All-State and honorable mention All-Metro selection this year, when he averaged 18 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Asamoah is the second incoming freshman for the Blue Hens, along with 6-4 guard John McCoy from Mansfield, Conn.
Gardner, a 6-3 guard, recently finished his sophomore season at North Carolina Central. He will sit out the 2019-20 season and then have two years of eligibility with the Blue Hens.
Gardner, a native of Bowie, Md. who played his senior year of high school at DeMatha, appeared in 68 games for the Eagles. He averaged 8.4 points per game, handed out 102 assists and knocked down 116 three-pointers during his two seasons. Gardner was a second team All-MEAC selection as a freshman when he started all 35 games, averaged a team-high 29.3 minutes per contest and led the squad with 76 three-pointers made.
