Hunt brings impressive track record the Delaware coaching staff
NEWARK, Del. - Head coach Pablo Marmolejo has announced the addition of the Colonial Athletic Association's reigning men's diving coach of the year Ryan Hunt to Delaware swimming and diving coaching staff for the 2019-20 season. Â
"We are extremely happy to welcome Ryan to Delaware," Marmolejo said. "His passion for the sport and for the development of student-athletes is admirable. Our program has improved tremendously with his arrival and I look forward to seeing him take our program to new heights."Â
Prior to Delaware, Hunt was a member of the coaching staff at Towson and earned the CAA's Men's Diving Coach of the Year honor for the 2018-19 campaign after having coached the conference's Diver of the Year. He helped two divers reach the finals at the 2019 CAA Championships and earn a pair of medals.Â
Prior to Towson, Hunt spent four years at East Carolina and helped the men's team capture back-to-back American Athletic Conference titles in 2015 and 2016. He earned the 2016 AAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year award.Â
On the women's side, Hunt helped lead East Carolina to an 11-0 duel meet record in 2013-14 and saw multiple student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Zone Championship and earn all-conference laurels.Â
Before officially being named the Pirates' diving coach, Hunt was a volunteer assistant from 2008-10 while also serving as an admissions counselor at East Carolina.Â
Hunt earned his bachelor's degree in sport studies with a minor in business from East Carolina in 2008 and went on to receive a master's degree from ECU in exercise sports science in 2011.Â
As a student-athlete himself, Hunt was a two-time All-Conference USA performer and a four-time NCAA Zone B Regional Championship qualifier. He was a team captain and obtained the team's Most Outstanding Diver Aware three times.Â
Hunt holds the East Carolina program record for the one-meter (six dives) and 3-meter (six dives).
Hunt has also served as a summer camp counselor at Patriot League power Navy in 2014 and 2015, helping with camp operations and coaching youth divers.Â
