The CAA Rookie of the Year is praised as one of the nation’s top freshmen

TUSCON, Ariz. – The postseason honors continue for Blue Hen freshman first baseman Joseph Carpenter as Collegiate Baseball announced its Freshman All-American team Wednesday morning.

The Cornwall, Pennsylvania native is the lone Colonial Athletic Association representative on the list of the nation's top rookies.

The CAA Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie team member started every game at first base for Delaware and put together a 24-game hitting streak in the heart of the season to help tally a .300 batting average. His .459 slugging percentage and .827 OPS led the team to go along with his share in the team lead for triples with four.

Carpenter managed to reach base in 44 of the final 46 games of his rookie season and had hits in 30 of the final 33 contests. After losing his hitting streak, he bounced back with a 4-for-6 night at UMBC with a double and a home run to help capture his first CAA Rookie of the Week award.
