NEWARK, Del. – Freshman Ashlyn Carr provided the heroics Friday afternoon as No. 16 Delaware outlasted No. 22 Albany, 1-0, in the season opener for both teams at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
The Hens won their fifth straight lid-lifter as Carr, a Delmar, Del. native, registered the game's lone goal in her collegiate debut.
With 12 minutes remaining in regulation, the midfielder collected the loose ball on the baseline and dribbled past defenders to direct her shot into the lower right corner of the cage.
Redshirt senior Sydney Rhodes posted her fourth career solo shutout while logging three saves for the Blue Hens.
