NEWARK, Del. – Junior Chris Ludman was lights out for the Blue team in game one of the Delaware baseball program's Fall World Series, punching out 11 in 6.0 hitless innings of work to give the squad the early lead in the best-of-three series by a 3-1 final.Â
The Blue team was led offensively by redshirt freshman Joey Loynd, who went 3-for-3, freshmen Mitchell Balint and Jake Dunion who combined for four hits, and RBI and a run.Â
Redshirt junior Jordan Hutchins broke the scoreless tie in the fifth, when a wild pitch allowed him to score from third. Dunion had the big hit for the Blue team, a long double to left center field in the sixth inning.Â
Senior Jack Goan had the lone RBI for the Black team, going 1-for-3, driving in classmate Vinny Vaccone.Â
The Black & Blue World Series concludes Friday, with game two coming at 1 p.m. and an abbreviated game three to follow if necessary. The series is closed to the public.Â
