Delaware opened the season with an easy 31-0 shutout of West Chester, and then posted a dominating 26-3 home victory over ninth-ranked South Dakota State in Delaware Stadium.
The Blue Hens closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a commanding 30-6 win over Duquense, before opening CAA play in impressive fashion with a 34-13 dubbing of No. 5 Richmond.
Delaware won its second straight road game over a top-5 opponent with a narrow 13-10 triumph at No. 3 James Madison, as Mike Perry kicked a 28-yard field goal with three seconds remaining.
The Blue Hens returned home to record a 26-7 win over Maine, and improved to 7-0 by holding off Rhode Island 24-17 at Delaware Stadium.
Delaware, which moved up to No. 2 in the national polls, dropped its first game of the year with a narrow 17-16 loss at fourth-ranked William & Mary, but rebounded in a big way following a bye week with a 48-0 shutout of Towson.
The Blue Hens then rolled to a 45-27 win at UMass, before closing the regular season with a 28-21 overtime loss to Villanova.
