Marmolejo Named Women’s Coach of the Year as Basch and Selling Shine at CAA Championship

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Delaware swimming & diving teams had a successful week at the Colonial Athletic Championship with the women placing fifth in the conference while the men placed fifthin the four-day event.
Delaware head coach Pablo Marmolejo was awarded with the CAA Women's Coach of the Year honor following the team's breakthrough performance.
"It was an outstanding championship for our Blue Hens and they finished the meet very strong with some fantastic swims," Marmolejo said. "The energy, passion and dedication this year culminated with great results for our program. I'm so proud of our student-athletes, coaching staff, support staff and administration. It was a complete team effort and we are just starting this new era."
It was the women's highest finish since 2016 when the Blue Hens placed fourth in the championship.
Senior Kevin Basch earned his second medal of the weekend and his second career silver medal in the men's 1650 yard freestyle, timing in at 15:42.30.
Freshman Mira Selling earned her third medal in her third event, securing her second silver medal of the championship, this time in the women's 200 yard butterfly. Her time of 1:59.10 set the school record in the event.
Also advancing to the finals was sophomore Taylor Draganosky in the women's 200 yard breaststroke. Junior Eric Veit was a finalist on the men's side of the 200 breaststroke, as well.
Freshman Natalie Dobrzykowski was the winner of the 100 yard freestyle "B" final.
