Selling Named CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its yearly swimming and diving awards Thursday with Delaware freshman Mira Selling earning Women's Rookie Swimmer of the Year honors.

Selling is the first Blue Hen to win the award and it's the program's first major award on the women's side since Sarah Peffer won Swimmer of the Year in 2004.

The Dresden, Germany native's rookie campaign culminated with a breakout performance at the CAA Championship when she reached the podium three times over the weekend. Selling brought home the silver medal and set the school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.73. She also placed second in the 200 butterfly and grabbed bronze in the 500 freestyle.

She racked up 15 victories in her freshman season and never finished outside the top three throughout the regular season and joins head coach Pablo Marmolejo with CAA honors after he was named Women's Swimming Coach of the Year.
