HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Delaware women's basketball led wire to wire in a 65-46 win over Hofstra Sunday afternoon inside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, completing its third straight sweep of a Colonial Athletic Association series.
Delaware improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play, the only CAA team to win every conference game it has played. The Pride fell to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the league.
Junior guard Jasmine Dickey led the Blue Hens with 18 points, while adding eight rebounds, four steals and two assists. The Baltimore native averaged a dominant 27.5 points across the two game stretch.
Freshman guard Tyi Skinner joined Dickey in double figures with 12 points to go with three boards, three steals and two assists.
Delaware's front line had a productive day, with redshirt junior forward Ty Battle coming within one point of a double-double for the second day in a row. Battle finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and five steals, while senior forward Lizzie Oleary racked up eight points and nine boards. Redshirt junior Chyna Latimer knocked down a pair of threes on her way to eight points.
JaKayla Brown led the Pride with 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor.
The Blue Hens jumped out to an 11-2 lead, punctuated by a steal and a fast break lay-up by Dickey. Hofstra bridged the halves with a 13-2 run to cut the Delaware lead to 33-30, but the Blue Hens responded with an 11-2 run of their own to restore the double-digit advantage.
Alone atop the CAA standings, Delaware returns to action next weekend with a two-game home set against UNCW on Jan. 23-24. Both games tip off at 1 p.m. from the Bob Carpenter Center.
