Blue Hens Unveil 2021 Baseball Slate and New Conference Format

NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware baseball program and 21st-year head coach Jim Sherman have unveiled the 2021 schedule with opening day slated for March 6.

"We couldn't be more excited to get back to baseball and owe a big thanks to our administration and support staff for getting us to this point," Sherman said. "It's a unique schedule, but we are looking forward to the challenge."

The Colonial Athletic Association has adopted a divisional scheduling format to cut back on travel and overnight stays within the conference. CAA teams will play a 24-game double-round robin conference schedule, plus two additional conference series in the north.

The Blue Hens will compete in the north division, consisting of Hofstra, Northeastern and Towson. The south features Charleston, Elon, JMU, UNCW and William & Mary.

Along with the conference contests, Delaware will play three home-and-home, two-game nonconference series with La Salle, Villanova and St. Joseph's.

Additionally, the CAA Championship slated for May 26-30 hosted by UNCW will feature six teams. The top two squads from each division and two at-large selections will reach Wilmington.

Information regarding attendance at Blue Hens home games will be released in the coming weeks.
