DEDHAM, Mass. - The No. 21 Delaware field hockey team (7-6, 3-0 CAA) had a slow start against Northeastern (4-9, 1-3 CAA) before scoring two goals in the fourth quarter to secure its third straight conference win Sunday afternoon.

"It was our fight during the third and fourth quarters that allowed us to turn two one goal deficits into the 3-2 win," said head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof. "Our team continues to learn more about themselves and hopefully this will further improve their future performances."

Northeastern's Lara Taylor got the Huskies on the board first with under a minute left in the first quarter.

Fifth-year senior Femke Strien answered back early in the second quarter from the top left of the circle on an assist from Grace Miller to knot the game, 1-1.

The Huskies took a 2-1 lead in the second quarter, before both teams went scoreless in the third period.

With 13 minutes left in the game, Julia Duffhuis netted her 10th goal of the season on a corner with assists from Miller and Strien to tie the game, 2-2.

The Blue Hens stayed patient and with just under two minutes remaining, Kiki Oudshoorn scored the game-winning goal on a chip from Miller who received a pass in front of the goal from Sian Emslie.

Strien led the offensive effort with three points on a goal and an assist, while Miller also earned three points on the day after dishing out an assist on each of Delaware's goals.

Both teams took 13 shots on the day, with the Blue Hens holding a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal. Delaware also had seven penalty corners to Northeastern's three. Goalkeeper Lizzie Gaebel had four saves on the day.

Delaware returns to Fred P. Rullo Stadium for a three-game homestand, starting with James Madison on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. for its fourth straight conference game.
