Einar Hardarson Named CAA Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen freshman Einar Hardarson has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday.

Hardarson scored Delaware's first goal at Northeastern on Saturday, when in the 39th minute to collected a ball that was deflected from a Carlos Fernandez shot and sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from 10 yards out.

Five minutes later Hardarson and Fernandez executed a give-and-go before he found Josh Hesson, who scored from close range in the 44th minute.

Hardarson, who has appeared in nine of UD's 10 matches while making six starts, is tied for the team lead with three goals and ranks second with two assists and eight points. He was also named CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 27.

Delaware is back home for two matches this week, hosting 12th-ranked Maryland Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Charleston Saturday at 7 p.m.
