Mason named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND,Va. – For the second time this season, the University of Delaware volleyball junior outside hitter Lani Mason was named the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) Co-Offensive Player of the Week for games played October 4-10, announced Monday by league officials.
Mason led the Blue Hens to an undefeated week (2-0) by averaging 4.71 kills (.350 hitting percentage) and 3.29 digs in seven sets played. The Chester, Va. native kicked off the weekend series at UNCW (Oct. 9) with a match-high 16 kills to go with 17 digs to register her fifth double-double of the season in the four-set road victory. Mason closed out the weekend swinging at a season-best .448 clip, nailing down a match-best 17 kills, in a straight-set win over UNCW (Oct. 10). She added six digs and two aces to her stat line.
On the season, Mason is averaging 3.62 points, 3.11 kills and 2.36 digs in 64 sets played. She ranks among the conference leaders in kills (t-4th, 199), kills per set (4th), service aces (6th, 23), service aces per set (t-6th, .36), points (5th, 231.5) and points per set (6th).

Mason and the Blue Hens will travel to Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 16, to face the Northeastern University Huskies (8-8, 4-2 CAA) in a CAA weekend series showdown from Cabot Center starting at 1 p.m.
