Delaware Has Two Compete at ITA Super Regionals

NORFOLK, VA. – The Delaware men's tennis team had a pair of student-athletes compete at the ITA Super Regional Championship over the weekend. Graduate student Guilherme Valdoleiros and senior James Wilkinson both competed against some of the best regional competition at Old Dominion's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Virginia.

Valdoleiros was in the 32-person main draw, where he dropped his first-round match to his opponent from Penn State 6-1, 6-1. He then went into the consolation draw, where he fell to his Virginia Tech adversary 7-5, 6-1.

Wilkinson took part in a round robin event where he played individual matches against opponents from William & Mary, Temple and Old Dominion. He went 2-1 with hard-fought victories over Temple (6-7, 6-1, 10-8) and ODU (7-5, 7-5).

The Blue Hens will be back in action this weekend, October 30-31, when the program makes the trip to Philadelphia for the Dragon Invite, hosted by Drexel.
