Delaware Racks Up Nine Wins at Dragon Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – Four members of the University of Delaware men's tennis team were in action this weekend, competing at the Dragon Invitational, hosted by Drexel, in Philadelphia. The Blue Hens went 9-2 in 11 matches during the hidden dual format tournament against opponents from NJIT, Drexel and Temple.
The tournament started with doubles play on Saturday where the Blue Hens competed in matches against the Highlanders and Dragons. The duo of Emiliano Gonzalez Balmaceda and Alexandre Gluck won both of their matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-4. The doubles team consisting of Luis Molina and Liam Hedlund cruised to an 8-1 victory over their opponents from NJIT before falling in a match versus a pair from Drexel.
In Sunday's singles action, the Blue Hens competed in seven matches against opponents from all three schools. Molina and Gonzalez Balmaceda both swept their two matches, while Gluck was victorious in his lone match of the day and Hedlund bounced back from a defeat in his first match to win in straight sets in his second.
The Blue Hens will close out their fall schedule the weekend of November 12-14 when they make the short trip to Annapolis, Maryland to compete at the Navy Gold Invite.
