Blue Hens Fall at No. 10 Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Delaware women's soccer team fell on the road to No. 10 Hofstra, 4-0, in Colonial Athletic Association play.
"This Hofstra team is by far the best team I've seen in the CAA over my time here and they showed their class tonight," said head coach Mike Barroqueiro. "To be able to compete in a game like this, you need to have experience and you need to have a strong attention to the details. Clearly we didn't have it tonight. That said, there's a lot we can learn from this as we turn the page to Charleston on Sunday."
Hofstra scored in the second minute of the match when it connected on a header to the right side of the net off a corner kick. The Pride scored their second goal in the 10th minute and another in the 42nd minute to take a 3-0 lead into the break.
The Pride added their final goal in the 73rd minute.
Lauren Krinsky had seven saves in the first half and finished with a total of nine saves in her 77 minutes in the net. Mia Reed entered the game late in the second half. She registered a trio of saves in 12 minutes at the goalkeeper spot. The Blue Hens (4-7-1, 1-1-1 CAA) registered seven shots by six different players.
The Pride finished with 31 shots – the most by an opponent this season for UD - and 12 corner kicks to improve to 11-1 and 3-0 in league competition. Skylar Kuzmich made one save in the net for Hofstra.
Delaware returns to Newark for a 1 p.m. matchup against the College of Charleston on Sunday for Senior Day. The Blue Hens will honor 10 seniors prior to the game.
