Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Fall Competition at Navy Gold Invite

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team wrapped up the fall schedule this past weekend, competing at the Navy Gold Invite. The tournament took place at the be Brigade Sports Complex (BSC) indoor & outdoor courts at the U.S. Naval Academy. Five Blue Hens competed in both singles and doubles, combining for 10 wins.

Emiliano Gonzalez Balmaceda led the way for the Blue Hens, winning three of his four matches in Flight F. He beat Diego Laporta of Monmouth (6-4 7-6(4)) as well as Navy's Will Pak (6-1, 7-5) and Jan Kjellberg (6-2, 6-1).

Alexandre Gluck pulled out a pair of three-set wins in Flight D. He defeated Ben Brandherm from LIU Brooklyn (6-3, 6-7(3), 6-4) while also taking down Roy Tabet of Columbia (7-5, 1-6, 6-4).

Pascal Wagemaker split his four matches in Flight C, earning a straight-set victory (6-4, 6-3) over Lucca Silva from Monmouth and a come-from-behind win (3-6, 6-3, 7-6(9)) against Navy's Sasha Panyan.

In Flight A, Pierce Gilheany went 0-3 - dropping matches to opponents from Columbia, Monmouth and Princeton - while Nicholas Gore fell in his first match in Flight G before withdrawing due to injury.

In doubles, the duo of Gilheany and Wagemaker pulled out a 7-6(2) win over a team from Navy while Gluck and Gonzalez partnered up for a 6-2 victory over a pair from LIU Brooklyn.
