Women’s Basketball Volunteers At Camillus House

MIAMI, Fla. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team landed in Miami, Fla. a few short hours ago and went straight into giving back mode. Head coach Natasha Adair took her Blue Hens over to Camillus House, a non-profit organization that serves the poor and homeless, and volunteered their time learning a new skill – turkey carving – in time for the organization's Thanksgiving dinner they are hosting for their diverse residents.
"What a great opportunity to give back the day before Thanksgiving down here in Miami," said Adair. "We always try to make it an opportunity for our players and our coaching staff just to come into a new environment, a new community and make sure we give back. We were able to come to Camillus House and they were so gracious and it was really neat. We got to carve turkeys, we got to fellowship and continue to serve – that is our mission and that is our purpose."
About Camillus House
Camillus House has grown steadily over the years from a small soup kitchen into a full-service center offering what we call a comprehensive "system of care" for the poor and homeless — a seamless, step-by-step process designed to bring persons from a life on the streets all the way to permanent housing.
Fully integrated services are provided through multiple program areas.
Adair added, "It was just a great opportunity for our whole women's basketball program to just give back and really understand what we are thankful for. Grateful for the opportunity."
