Women's Lacrosse: Serviam Committee
11/26/2021
The Delaware women's lacrosse team has developed five committees in support of five different organizations the team feels passionate about. They have incredible leaders in the senior class and wanted to create areas for them to utilize their leadership qualities. The women's lacrosse program is heavily involved in giving back and supporting a variety of organizations any way possible. The Blue Hens want to spread awareness and leave a lasting impact on the community. Over the next few months, BlueHens.com will feature every committee and catch up with the organizers.
The next committee that will be highlighted is the Serviam Committee and is run by seniors Mollie McCormack and Kendra Schweizer. We talked to McCormack and Schweizer to find out more about the committee and why it is important to them.
WHAT DOES THE Serviam Committee DO?
The Serviam Committee provides mentorships for the students at the Serviam Girls Academy in Wilmington, Del. Our committee is an extra resource for these girls that gives them other outlets and opportunities that they may not have had the chance to have before. Our work with the Serviam Girls Academy is extremely meaningful to us as we have had the opportunity to watch our relationship with Serviam grow over the last three years and we have had an opportunity to impact young minds for years to come.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REPRESENT THE Serviam Committee ?
To represent this committee means that we are a part of something much bigger than ourselves. Getting to know these young girls and helping them allows us to build deeper relationships with our community. This relationship is truly special and it is a privilege to mentor and support these young girls.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE Serviam Committee?
The goal of our committee is to build a long standing relationship with local community members and to support and mentor these young girls in their future endeavors.
WHY IS THE Serviam Committee IMPORTANT TO YOU?
Being involved with the Serviam Committee is important to us because it allows us to make an impact off of the field. Getting to know our mentees has made us more involved on a community level. The relationships we have built with them will last a life time.
Serviam Girls Academy is part of a 45 year tradition of providing a high quality middle school education to adolescents with great potential but with limited resources. Part of a NativityMiguel network, and steeped in the Ursuline tradition, Serviam was founded on the premise that the community would invest in an education that allows every child the opportunity to reach her full potential.serviamgirlsacademy.org
